Turbine Mechanic

Alturdyne, a leading manufacturer of emergency and standby power solutions, is looking to expand our Turbine Engine refurbishment and integration team in El Cajon, California.  Alturdyne has designed, manufactured and serviced over 1,000 turbine packages (including mini-turbines and micro-turbines) for airborne, shipboard, stationary and mobile terrestrial applications.

We are looking for a highly self-motivated, results-oriented individual to join our Turbine Engine team. Successful candidate will be focused primarily on engine overhauls, modification, repairs, reworks, testing and inspections of gas turbine assemblies in accordance with Alturdyne standards established in written shop floor travelers. High level of work proficiency required in this area as well as periodic overtime to support customer demand.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with team members, other technicians and/or Engineering to solve technical problems as they apply to gas turbine engines
  • Work under the direct supervision of Alturdyne’s lead turbine mechanic to build and overhaul gas turbine engines
  • Operate shop equipment, material handling equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks, etc.), bench and hand tools, test equipment and controls as well as machines and inspection equipment in an overhaul environment
  • Embrace our safety culture and identify safety improvements to reduce risk of injury or incident in the work area
  • Work in a team oriented environment.  Attend and participate in team meetings, support established team business goals, and adhere to Alturdyne’s policies and procedures

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School education, GED or equivalent
  • Trade school education in turbine engine assembly, test, and maintenance a plus
  • Military experience is welcomed but not required
  • Excellent attendance is required
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and schematics
  • Ability to operate shop equipment, bench tools, hand tools and inspection equipment
  • Minimum four (4) years hands-on mechanical/turbine-machinery experience
  • Familiar with operating principles of gas turbine engines and mechanical and/or electronic equipment
  • Ability to resolve complex problems and make sound decisions
  • Ability to work independently and contribute to the overall success of the Turbine Team
  • Must be able to communicate effectively within a cross-functional environment
  • Must possess demonstrated computer skills
  • Must be able to communicate effectively within a cross-functional environment
  • Willing to work overtime and weekends as needed to meet production and team goals
  • Willing to take initiative to improve quality while reducing costs and cycle times
  • Recognize and engage in safe work behaviors and practices
